Dust collects on the banners and ribbons hanging in the showbarn, no longer filled with the sound of fans, blowers, music, and laughter, but the dust hasn’t settled. In fact, the sun is dawning on the day of a new tradition here in Oklahoma.
Everyone has their unique traditions. Some people have ski trips, beach vacations, and hiking trips to the mountains. The highlights of our year include adding thousands of miles to our trucks, traveling to junior nationals, jackpots and shows all over the country. Though these traditions may look a little different, it still brings the same joy to our hearts, for agriculture is one of the world’s best and oldest traditions.
A showman is born out of guts, resilience, initiative and tenacity. Whether you’re five or 85, we have all experienced the early mornings, late nights, blood, sweat, and tears that have come from the showbarn. The feeling of stepping into the show ring after months of feeding, rinsing, and working hair remains the same for all generations.
It is said tradition helps create values, beliefs, and memories for life. It is because of this we are devoting ourselves to carrying the torch onward and securing your traditions for years to come. Your traditions of grit, of gathering together as an industry, of ensuring the future of cattlemen and women.
The moment you are living in is timeless. The memories you are making are priceless. We are honored and eager to welcome you to the new tradition in Oklahoma City built upon years of tried-and-true practices, invaluable beliefs, and a proud legacy. Welcome to a new tradition, welcome to the Cattlemen’s Congress.
